Feb 20, 2013

The American Health Lawyers Association's Long Term Care Section has selected Kevin S. Cooman as one its program presenters at its annual conference on February 26-28, 2013 in Austin, Texas.  Cooman, whose litigation team successfully concluded a 13 year civil rights retaliation case against New York State Department of Health officials in August 2012, will deliver a lecture presentation entitled:  "The Long Road to Justice and $25 Million:  The Beechwood Litigation Saga, 1999-2012."

The AHLA hosts its "Long Term Care and the Law" conference of health care lawyers from across the United States each February, highlighting the most significant developments affecting nursing homes, home health agencies and assisted living facilities.  A copy of the presentation materials is available by contacting kcooman@mccmlaw.com.

For over 30 years Cooman has engaged in a broad-based civil litigation practice, handling cases from intake through full appellate practice before the highest courts in New York State and the federal court system. These cases have included major and precedent-setting litigation in the fields of: general contract and commercial claims, health care, trademark, civil rights, Freedom of Information entitlements, employment discrimination, securities and consumer fraud, tax, banking, education and construction.

Cooman also provides general regulatory, risk management and corporate counseling to clients in the health care industry (including long-term care facilities, provider practice groups, ambulatory surgery centers, and a Medicaid managed care IPA), and in the construction industry (owners, general contractors, and subcontractors), and to religious corporations.
