McConville Considine Cooman & Morin, PC is pleased to announce that three of its partners: Kevin S. Cooman, Lucien A. Morin, II and Peter J. Weishaar, have been chosen for inclusion on the 2015 Upstate New York Super Lawyers list, an honor reserved for those lawyers who have shown excellence in practice.  Only five percent of the attorneys in New York each year are named to the Super Lawyers list.  Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.  This is a repeat recognition for Kevin, Lou and Peter.

For over 35 years Kevin has engaged in a broad-based civil litigation practice, handling cases from intake through full appellate practice before the highest courts in New York State and the federal court system. These cases have included precedent-setting litigation in the fields of: general contract and commercial claims, health care, trademark, civil rights, Freedom of Information entitlements, personal injury, employment discrimination, securities and consumer fraud, tax, banking, education and construction.

Kevin has been honored with recognition in The Best Lawyers in America, and in November 2013 Kevin received "Lawyer of the Year" recognition as a Leader in Law by the Daily Record for his work in achieving the $25 million resolution of a decade-long civil rights claim against New York State Department of Health officials who illegally closed his client's nursing home.  A jury determined that the DOH officials had unconstitutionally retaliated against the nursing home owner for his exercise of First Amendment rights.

Lou is recognized as one of the preeminent attorneys in Western New York with respect to real estate and bankruptcy matters.  A frequent guest lecturer to bar association and realtor groups, Lou has also served on committees which have revised and improved the standard forms used by realtors and attorneys for residential real estate transactions.  Lou also maintains an active bankruptcy and workout practice, and serves as a Chapter 7 trustee for the federal Western District of New York bankruptcy court.

Lou has been honored with recognition in The Best Lawyers in America, and was named a 2012 Leader in Law by the Daily Record.

Peter focuses primarily on commercial and business litigation matters, including the representation of businesses and individuals in litigation involving trade secrets, restrictive covenants, non-compete agreements, and other business disputes.  His litigation practice includes the ongoing representation of businesses and individuals in state and federal trial and appellate courts across a broad spectrum of civil litigation matters, including contract and business disputes, labor and employment matters, construction, land use, banking, health care, civil rights and personal injury matters.

Peter also has an extensive municipal practice, which includes representation of fire districts, planning and zoning boards, and other municipalities on an ongoing basis, and as special litigation counsel.  Peter serves as President and Managing Partner of the law firm.

Both Kevin and Peter have also achieved the "AV® Preeminent™" rating through Martindale Hubbell's peer review process. See www.martindale.com/ratings.
